If you buy X5M 299 wheels they should be plug in play on a regular X5. The center pilot bore of the rear hubs on the X6 are 72.5 mm in diameter and on the X5 they are slightly larger at 74 mm diameter. If you buy X5M wheels, then you should be fine. If you buy X6M wheels you would need to have the pilot bore of the rear two wheels bored out on a mill or a big lathe so that they'll fit on the rear of your X5.
