F31 Build Journal - The Perfect Daily

So last october I picked up a 2015 328d xdrive wagon, equipped with the M sport package, harman kardon sound, cold weather package, and all the goodies you could think of for a pre-facelift model (should have bought a 2016+ for the carplay…)

Just making this thread to show the possibilities for this platform, incase it serves as inspiration for any others.

To preface, I came from some fun cars before (f22 m240i, 996 carrera 4s, L320 range rover sport supercharged overland build, etc.) but decided to stoop down performance wise, in exchange for a car that is relatively sporty, and can deliver me 40+ MPG on the highway as I commute a good distance to the Singer Vehicle Deisgn HQ every day for work.

So far, I’ve swapped out the brakes for the M Performance/Brembo kit with red calipers hugging 370mm drilled & slotted rotors in the front, and 345mm drilled & slotted rotors in the rear, along with some nice stoptech SS brake lines. For wheels, I picked up a square set of 359M wheels (19x9) and wrapped them in 245/35 Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4 tires. Massive improvement over the 18” 400M wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero runflats that it came with from the previous owner.

I installed an M performance front spoiler, and some Thule racks on top. For the rear I went with an AK style carbon diffuser + M performance CF tips, as I love how aggressive it is (specifically its poke). I chopped the muffler off as well, but that did absolutely nothing to the sound.

For the interior, I went with OEM m performance dry CF/alcantara bits for the shifter, shifter surround, E brake/brake boot, and the steering wheel center trim. As for the dash, center console strip & door grabs, those came from an eBay kit from Lithuania. I also installed gloss black pieces that provide incredible interior lighting (the horizontal strips on the door cards, as well as the AC surround trim). These tie it in perfect as all trim is now a mix of dry CF, alcantara, and gloss black finish. For the steering wheel, I spec’ed a custom wrap from Mewant with the CS stripe at the 12 O’clock marker, and perforated alcantara sides. I then wrapped it up with some functional red M buttons & red start button. I personally love how the cabin now feels.

Next up (other than excessive precautionary 100k mile maintenance items), I am going to swap the tail lights out for M Performance Blackline tail lights (I was inspired by how good it looked on another forum member’s sapphire black metallic F31). I am also planning on tuning it with a KermaTDI stage 2 tune, as well as coding out the front differential with XHP’s xDelete tool. Once those are checked off, the last think I can think of is mild lowering springs (perhaps an inch but nothing more, since I live in LA and the roads are awful). Possibly stiffer sway bars as well to tame some of the body roll which I do notice in this car. I may consider Koni struts as well.

Anyways - here’s how she looks as of lately:
