After I started this thread, I went back to the car to have it towed. While waiting for the tow truck, I called BMW and described what had happened.
So the last time I tried to start the car, I got a battery warning. When the tow truck came, he was finally able to jump start the car but it would not keep running so he used a portable unit to keep inside the hood while he put my car on top of his truck.
I decided to start with the dealer since they know my record of 5 X5s from them. If this is just a battery then not much to worry about. If it is more serious, then I will look at towing the car over to the independent dealer I want to use who is roughly 1 mile from my dealer.
