Budget, options, colors, years, style...
If you find a car you like, use the VIN to see what options are on the car.
If you're serious about buying a certain unit, have an independent mechanic, or a BMW service center check the car for service history, as well as any glaring issues (e.g. fluid leaks, wear items, etc)
